Code of Conduct Policy

At Kellyville, we believe in fostering a positive, respectful, and supportive environment for every child participating in rugby league. As a parent or supporter, your behavior plays a crucial role in shaping the experiences of our young players.

Please follow these guidelines:

1. Encourage, Don't Pressure

  • Support children who show interest in sports, but never force participation if they are reluctant.
  • Remember: children play rugby league primarily for fun, not for the entertainment of others or future careers.

2. Emphasize Effort Over Outcome

  • Focus on a child's effort and personal development, not just the score or result.
  • Help children set realistic goals based on their abilities.
  • Teach them that trying their best is as important as winning.

3. Promote Positive Sportsmanship

  • Encourage children to consistently Follow the rules of the game.
  • Never ridicule or yell at a child for making mistakes or losing.
  • Celebrate good play from both teams, regardless of the outcome.

4. Respect All Participants

  • Show respect to opposing teams, they are essential for the game to happen.
  • If you disagree with an official's decision, use appropriate channels rather than voicing concerns publicly.
  • Teach children to respect referees and officials, who volunteer their time to support the game.

5. Uphold a Safe and Positive Environment

  • Support programs that aim to eliminate verbal and physical abuse in sport.
  • Acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of volunteer coaches and officials, they make the game possible for your children.
  • Demonstrate good behaviour at all times: avoid profanity and refrain from harassing players, coaches, or referees.
